About Kyle Strong

From teaching English to children in Seoul, South Korea to improving English education for American students in Southern California, Kyle Strong remains an advocate of using the best possible techniques for teaching English, both to native speakers and those learning English as a second language. Kyle Strong is a skilled language learner himself, speaking Korean, Italian, and French. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in English and Art History in 2008. Kyle Strong made the Dean’s List for eight out of the nine quarters he was at Northwestern. Although learning a foreign language as widely spoken as English is clearly important for students in South Korea, Kyle Strong feels that there are many other benefits to studying a foreign language. As the world economy and globalization continue to expand and evolve, Kyle Strong believes that knowing how to communicate in a foreign language will rapidly becoming a crucial job skill. Students who study a foreign language in middle school or high school find that they do better in other subjects and frequently perform better on their SAT scores. Kyle Strong’s work as an English teacher at Seoul’s high-status Lex Kim English School in 2008 and 2009 gave him some insights into what methods work in foreign language teaching and what does not. He took that information and experience with him to his next job at Paedea, an educational materials development and teaching company also located in Seoul. As an Instructor and Researcher, Kyle Strong worked on several new and revised teaching booklets and workbooks. Kyle Strong works to bring these new techniques to schools in America, particularly to some of the independent schools in Southern California. He continues to be involved with children in South Korea, however, through his fundraising work for SOS Children’s Villages, a nongovernmental social development organization that helps children who have lost their parents and places them in loving homes.
